Research, Planning and Development

Research is one of the thrusts of the Commission on Higher Education that every educational institution must take with utmost consideration. Research is the life-blood of an institution. Without it, the goals and objectives of the academe for its clientele will not be realized. Thus, it is vital that all members of the UCV family should work hand in hand to attain quality research in order to produce highly competitive graduates.

This Institution’s Research, Planning and Development Center is established to set in motion and stimulate the growth of the frontiers of knowledge across disciplines, and help raise the levels of research efforts to sustain development programs in this Institution.

Goals and Objectives

Research, Planning and Development is an academic function that distinguishes higher education from basic education.

The academe has traditionally been one of the major sources of knowledge and innovations as a result of the research activities undertaken by the faculty, personnel and students. It is believed that the academic reputation of the faculty as well as his/her standing among colleagues is associated to a large extent, with the quality of his/her research and contribution to the world’s fund of knowledge.

The center envisions to assume the lead role in the production and dissemination of development-oriented, innovative and creative researches which are locally responsive and globally comparable.

Mission Statement

The Center is committed to provide an environment for the ultimate expression of an individual’s innovative and creative powers. It ensures that the academic environment nurtures a research culture that inspires and supports the talents of the faculty, personnel as well as the students.

Goal

The University of Cagayan Valley Research, Planning and Development Center shall enhance the individual’s capacity to identify, create and distribute knowledge for reuse and to conduct independent, relevant and responsive studies.

Objectives

  • To foster academic environment that nurtures and inspires the functions of the research skills of faculty and other development programs.
  • To undertake development-oriented, community-based, innovative and creative researches that would redound to the general welfare of the academic community and the general community within which the school operates.
  • To forge the culture of networking with other research institutions both local and outside of the region for resource sharing and research capability building.
  • To provide a program that will continuously upgrade the research capability of both the faculty and the students.
  • To serve as an avenue for dissemination of research outputs to the academic community and potential users, and to manage the identification, accumulation and application of knowledge to developmental and research activities.
  • To promote the translation, and transformation and utilization of research outputs by decision makers, planners, policy formulators and other publics.
  • To formulate/collate the development plan of the institution which shall incorporate the development plan of each college and service unit.
